Invited speakers include mayors and deputy mayors from Taipei’s sister cities and international friendly cities across the United States, Europe, the Asia-Pacific, and Central America. Through keynote presentations and high-level panel discussions, speakers will share their cities’ experiences in various policy areas, including digital transformation, intelligent transportation systems, net-zero sustainability, health-care innovation, and cultural creativity. Taipei hopes that this international platform will serve to strengthen its capabilities of city diplomacy and foster closer, results-oriented partnerships with cities worldwide.
This year’s forum centers on the theme of “Future Cities,” examining how AI can be applied to public services, transportation management, urban safety, digital transformation, and sustainable development. Discussions will explore how cities can balance technological innovation with human-centered values in the digital era, while building more resilient and intelligent governance models. Through thematic presentations and dialogues, city leaders will exchange practical experiences in smart governance, net-zero transition, and social service innovation, promoting inter-city policy learning and tangible cooperation, while showcasing Taipei’s achievements and vision in smart governance and sustainable urban development.
A business networking luncheon will also be held on the same day, bringing together representatives from international cities, multinational companies operating in Taipei, foreign chambers of commerce, and high-tech startups. Through briefings and social exchanges over lunch, the event will facilitate meaningful dialogues on urban governance and industrial development, while strengthening collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Of particular note, global AI leader NVIDIA is set to establish its first overseas headquarters in Taipei, highlighting the city’s global strategic importance within the AI industry. The Taipei City Government noted that as international high-tech companies continue to expand their presence in the city, Taipei is emerging not only as a hub of industrial innovation but also as a key testing ground for the practical application of AI in public governance. The forum will also connect with related events of the 2026 Smart City Summit & Expo and Net-Zero City Expo, which will take place from March 17 to 18 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, showcasing the integration of AI and urban governance while promoting cross-sector collaboration among government, industry, and academia.
The Taipei City Government emphasized that the 2026 Taipei International Cities Forum is more than an international conference—it represents Taipei’s forward-looking commitment to the future. By integrating AI technologies with public policy innovation, Taipei will continue to dive into smart governance, step up urban resilience and global competitiveness, and move toward a city that is safer, more sustainable, and driven by innovation.
