MAYOR'S WORDS

At this pivotal moment of rapid urban transformation worldwide, artificial intelligence (AI) has become a key driver of innovative urban governance and sustainable development. With a citizen-centered approach, the Taipei City Government has actively integrated AI technologies into municipal governance, public services, and environmental management. The aim is to enhance governance efficiency through technology while addressing global challenges such as climate change and urban resilience.

In recent years, leading international technology companies such as NVIDIA have expanded their presence in Taipei, demonstrating the city’s overall advantages in talent cultivation, innovation ecosystems, and governance frameworks. These developments underscore Taipei’s growing significance as a global hub for AI advancement and a living lab for smart city innovation. The Taipei City Government remains committed to fostering an urban environment that supports innovation and sustainability by promoting deeper integration of technological advancement and public governance.

This forum, themed “AI x Future Cities: Smarter Governance, Greener Future,” brings together city leaders and experts from around the world to exchange insights on policy implementation and innovation practices. The discussions will explore how AI can help cities more precisely address citizen needs, improve governance transparency, and establish intelligent and inclusive urban development models grounded in fairness and sustainability.

I believe that the competitiveness of future cities lies not only in technological innovation but also in inter-city collaboration and mutual trust. Through this forum, Taipei aims to strengthen partnerships with global cities and jointly address the challenges of climate change and sustainable development—paving the way for safer, more livable environments for future generations.
